We talk a lot about our ideal client when it comes to clarity about who we serve in Business. But what about your ideal day! Because you know impact in your business is not just going to come about through the number of hours you pour into it. In fact, that can often lead to overload and creative burn out. It’s going to come about by how well you can plan, use, and execute in the hours that you have! Working to your natural energy rather than just managing your time well. Let me explain: PLAN – Nothing happens without a good plan, except by fluke. Fluke doesn’t last long and it’s not often repeatable. What I admire about many successful people is their capacity to do the same thing every day!
Wake | Exercise | Pray |Work | Eat | Sleep | Rest | Plan | Create
Whilst many of us love a little more flexibility and spontaneity in our day – there is something to be learnt here. When you plan for it, it happens. When you can predict it, you can measure it.
So from when you wake up to go to sleep, think about when do you focus best? Can you make that your work time? When do you get tired, can you make that you’re eat, rest, or slow exercise time?
USE. Remember you work for you first and your clients second. It’s like the classic fit your own oxygen mask analogy. But in our pursuit to make an impact in our business be honest, how many of us run hours according to our clients not us. Don’t wait until your business is hitting 6 figures and succeeding before you have the days that suit you and you enjoy. Plan and use your time NOW to create an ideal day.
Now I hear every working parent say – HOLD UP! What about the Kids! I hear you, but don’t let it hold you back – get creative! As a family, and with your partner start talking about win: win situations for everybody. It’s not about “Our Musts” it’s about our “Get to.”
When you plan and use your time in a way that aligns with your energy, your personality, your values, your family, you will start to EXECUTE the time you have well. You can’t avoid the hard work – if you only have two hours for it, you can avoid it if you have eight hours for it.
So how can you PLAN, USE & EXECUTE the time that you have well, and creatively!? Remember you work for you first!
